Charlotte Hornets’ Frank Kaminsky Debuts Veterans Day-Inspired Air Jordans

With Veterans Day just around the corner, sneaker brands such as AdidasNike and Reebok are stepping up their military-inspired colorways and releases. The latest label to get in on the action is Jordan Brand, with a previously unseen makeup of a classic Air Jordan silhouette.

On Wednesday night, as the Charlotte Hornets improved to 6-1 with a 104-98 win over Utah, Hornets center Frank Kaminsky III was laced up in a camouflage-covered version of the Air Jordan 16.

The sneaker makes use of an olive green upper that’s accented with a woodland camouflage pattern across its side panels and tongue. Elsewhere, a gum rubber outsole helps tie the drab palette together. The Veterans Day-inspired Air Jordan 16 is then finished off with metallic gold lace tips.

Jordan Brand hasn’t confirmed any plans to release this colorway of the Air Jordan 16. However, the model, which originally appeared in 2001, is receiving the retro treatment from Jordan Brand.

On Nov. 5, Trophy Room, the Orlando, Fla., boutique owned by Michael Jordan’s son, released a limited-edition Air Jordan 16 collaboration. Meanwhile, the sneaker’s original “Midnight Navy” colorway is set to be rereleased on Dec. 22.
