Jordan Brand To Unveil The Air Jordan XXXI Tonight

Jordan Brand is set to release a new Air Jordan silhouette, which people could get a glimpse of for the first time tonight.

The namesake label of NBA legend Michael Jordan announced via Twitter that the Air Jordan XXXI will be unveiled on July 20 at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT. Those interested could RSVP to see the shoe unveil live on jordan.com.

The label started to tease a new shoe release last week. Jordan Brand released a video on July 13 — also seen during the ESPYs — via its YouTube channel and other social media platforms that used a clip from the 1985 TV ad showing Jordan’s banned Air Jordan I, with the clip ending by stating “The Next Chapter” would soon be unveiled.

Late Tuesday night into Wednesday morning, Jordan Brand posted two new videos to its Twitter account further teasing a new shoe — both concluding with the phrase “Defy Gravity: The Spirit of a Legend.” The first featured Oklahoma City Thunder star Russell Westbrook, who held the Air Jordan 1 “Bred” while speaking about its importance and his role to help “bring it back out.” The end of the video features an image of the Air Jordan 1 “Bred” transitioning into a different shoe covered with a black box. The second video features Jordan speaking about the shoe being banned by the NBA for violating its then uniform policy with the same image.

But Jimmy Butler of the Chicago Bulls may have already showed off the new shoe. Butler posted a picture on his personal Instagram account guarding Kyrie Irving during a Team USA practice wearing an unreleased shoe that features both Swoosh and Jumpman branding on the lateral side.

Jordan Brand revealed the Air Jordan XXX in January, with the first iteration of the shoe hitting stores on Feb. 12.
