Andy Murray’s confidence is at its peak after defeating Roberto Bautista Agut at the Rolex Shanghai Masters tournament.
The Under Armour-sponsored tennis star outclassed the Spanish athlete on Sunday in China, 7-6, 6-1.
The victory moves the world No. 2-ranked Murray closer to upending Novak Djokovic, the current world No. 1 tennis player. Murray trails the top spot by 915 points, but there are opportunities to come before the end of the year.
The Scottish ace is slated to play the Vienna Open (Oct. 24-30; 500 points), the Paris Masters (Oct. 31-Nov. 6; 1,000 points) and the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals in London (Nov. 13-20; 200 points). Adidas-sponsored Djokovic is expected to hit the court in Paris and London.

“I believe I can get there. I definitely believe I can get there,” Murray told reporters of reaching the top spot. “These last few months have proved that to me. I may never get another chance to be number one, so I’ll give it my best shot to do that while I have the opportunity.”
Murray had on his Under Armour Clutchfit Pursuit sneakers in a black colorway during the match against world No. 15 player Agut, who wore Mizuno sneakers.
Murray’s flexible footwear features two-way stretch synthetic material and a foam sole that supports stability. He signed a four-year endorsement deal with Under Armour in late 2014.
The sportswear brand took to Twitter to praise Murray’s performance after winning his first China Open title one week earlier.
