Brandblack is continuing its focus on the basketball and sneakerhead markets with its latest release, the Ether, a silhouette worn by baller Josh Smith with both court and fashion appeal.
The Brandblack Ether arrives Thursday and will hit stores in five colorways. The shoe retails for $120.
Smith, an NBA forward in his second stint with the Houston Rockets, has already been seen on the court wearing the gray colorway of the sneaker, switching from his former on-the-court choice from Brandblack, the Force Vector.
Ether, according to the brand, pays homage to some of the first basketball shoes ever produced, using the “Blucher” method of construction, frequently used until the 1970s. The method, Brandblack states, helps the shoe lock down the forefoot and provide better lateral structure when executing cutting maneuvers on the hardwood.
The shoe features the brand’s Blackfoam cushioning and fused thermo-plastic eyelets, a ballistic nylon upper, and nubuck support panels.

The launch’s five colorways will be black, blue, gray, olive and white. The shoe will be available via Brandblack’s website as well as its retail partners including Revolve, Bait, Champs, Dr. Jays, Footaction, Titan and BX Sports.
Brandblack launched its third signature shoe for Jamal Crawford of the Los Angeles Clippers, the J.Crossover III, back in December.
