Bubba Watson To Wear G/Fore Shoes At Masters Tournament

Two-time Masters champion Bubba Watson, who signed a deal earlier this year with the G/Fore brand, will debut its new line of gloves and golf shoes at this year’s tournament. The 2016 Masters, to be held at Augusta National Golf Club in Georgia, begins Thursday.

Watson, a big-hitting left-handed player, is expected to step on the course in G/Fore’s Pacific blue glove and its Gallivanter IV.O Charcoal shoe.

As the Masters progresses, the 37-year-old will change outfits, opting for more colorful choices, such as the bright yellow Fly glove and Striped Onyx Gallivanter IV.O.

Watson said he partnered with the newcomer because of the quality of leather it uses throughout its product line.

“Being a feel player, my glove and shoes are a very important part of my success on the golf course, and G/Fore’s tailored fit and top-notch material provide me the best chance to win,” he said in a statement. “I love their unique vision and their crazy color schemes — they have definitely raised the bar for golf fashion.”

The company was launched in 2011 by Mossimo Giannulli, who founded clothing label Mossimo Inc. and eventually negotiated an exclusive deal with Target retail stores.

“I have had a lot of fun with Bubba on this project,” said Giannulli. “He is a sneakerhead and has been very involved in the collaborative design of our special edition shoes for the Masters. I’m looking forward to working with him on many more innovative designs and projects.”

Earlier this week, both Skechers and Nike amped up their promotional activity in advance of the prestigious tournament.

Nike on Monday launched a series of up-tempo videos, starring Rory McIlroy, on TV and across social media that highlight the hard work many of its sponsored golfers endure in their quest for victory.

That was followed a day later when Skechers said it renewed its contract with professional player Matt Kuchar.
