Dinner is on Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. The wrestler-turned-actor started out early in his career with just $7 in his pocket, but he has gone on to make $64.5 million this year starring on the big screen.
The “Fast 8” actor earned the top spot among other showbiz heavy hitters featured on Forbes’ annual World’s Highest-Paid Actors list, the financial magazine reported Thursday.
“Want to say two things about this,” Johnson shared on Twitter, reacting to the news. “I started w/ $7 bucks. If I can overcome, so can you. Waffle House on me!”
He leads second-ranked Jackie Chan, who earned $61 million, and Matt Damon, who earned the third spot with $55 million.
Johnson’s earnings are more than double what he took in last year, according to Forbes.

Johnson also rakes in dollars through his HBO sports drama, “Ballers,” as well as through his long-term partnership with Under Armour.
Since the announcement in February that he would develop lifestyle and footwear products, the sportswear brand released two bags with The Rock’s branding in March, debuted a commercial in April and unveiled a mobile alarm clock app — Rock Clock — in May.
Earlier this month, Johnson revealed on Instagram the prototype of his first signature sneaker with the label.
“I’ll train in these prototypes daily for the rest of 2016 improving them,” he explained. “So by the time they drop, they’ll be [100 percent] ready to help you chase that greatness.”
The black high-tops feature embossed treatments, motivational phrases on the upper and yellow accents throughout the design.
The tongue is emblazoned with “Earn it” on one shoe, and the other is stamped with “Blood, sweat and respect.”
Under Armour branding is included around the toe bed, and Johnson’s logo is on the counter.
