Facebook Post Of Finish Line Employee Goes Viral

Back-to-school season has arrived, and as usual, sneakers are at the top of many young students’ shopping lists. It’s hard to beat the feeling of strutting into class on the first day laced in a fresh pair, but unfortunately, not everyone is lucky enough to buy new shoes for the start of school. Thankfully, there are still good people such as Finish Line employee Osmani Torres out there.

According to a recent Facebook post from Torres, he was in the middle of a normal shift at Natick Mall’s Finish Line in Boston when a kid entered the store and asked to be directed to the cheapest shoes in stock.

“I looked down at his feet and saw the shoes that he was wearing were destroyed,” Torres wrote. “Literally, they were breaking apart.”

Torres asked the young shopper, whose name was Sebastian, if he had worn the tattered sneakers for the first day of school. “My mom didn’t have enough money to buy me new shoes to start the year,” Sebastian told Torres.

“I told him, ‘Don’t worry, pick any shoe you like,’ ” Torres said, extending an offer to purchase Sebastian his favorite sneakers in the store.

In the end, Sebastian walked out with a brand new pair of Nikes, and Torres ended up making a new friend. “So my new buddy Sebastian walked out of Finish Line with a brand new pair of shoes for the school year.”
