NBA’s Joakim Noah: Adidas Crazy Explosive ‘Feel Like Sex On The Feet’

NBA star Joakim Noah has always had a way with words, typically when making statements to aggravate his opponents (i.e., calling LeBron James and his 10 Miami Heat teammates “Hollywood as hell”). In New York on Tuesday, when Adidas unveiled its latest category, Adidas Athletics, the newest member of the New York Knicks provided an interesting way of describing his next on-court shoe when speaking with Footwear News.

What will you wear on the court this season? Why is it the shoe of choice for you?

I’m rocking the same shoe as Andrew Wiggins this season: the Crazy Explosive. They feel like sex on the feet. That’s as good as it gets.

What’s the sneaker of choice for you when you’re not on the court?

This Boost thing — anything with Boost in it. When I signed with Adidas, I was kind of skeptical about some of the styles, [but] the pro models were great. But ever since this Boost thing came out, I feel like it just changed the game completely. I can’t wear anything else. I don’t want to wear anything else; I’ll wear a suit with some Boosts, I swear. Not that I wear suits, but if I did I would still wear them.

Will you ever play in Yeezys on the court? Do you have any Yeezys?

No, that’s too much. I’m really hype about the Crazy Explosive. It’s a great shoe. I wear the Yeezy Boost off the court; it’s a dope shoe. [But] I’ve had a lot of injuries, so I’m not playing [in] those.

What’s on your pregame and practice playlist?

I like my old-school [music] — I like my Dipset, I like my [Nas] Illmatic, I love listening to Gang Starr. It’s a long ride to the practice facility now, so it depends on my mood, depends on what kind of day it’s going to be — a recovery day or a game day. On game day, I try to go a little harder, some G-Unit mixtapes and stuff.

Do you ever want your own signature shoe? Or are you happy with the other court-ready Adidas product?

I’m blessed just to be able to be a part of this brand and have a box full of gear sent to my crib for free, let alone get paid for wearing a brand. I feel really, really blessed — and no, I don’t have a signature shoe, but I’m very proud of everything that’s been given to me.

Your teammate Derrick Rose has his own Adidas signature shoe. Will you wear those on the court at all this season?

We’ll see. I’ve been practicing with this shoe [Crazy Explosive], I really like it, so I’m going to go with it. But we’ll see how it goes. [But] I’ve been playing with D Roses for the past couple of years.

What can we expect this season with the Knicks?

I’m just really excited — I’m working hard, I’m going into the new practice facility and meeting all the new faces and just trying to get a routine. We have a lot new faces, a lot of veterans and a lot of great young talent, so [we’re] trying to put it all together and do something that makes the city proud. I grew up watching all the New York teams, and to me, the Knicks are the ultimate underdog team. I’m proud to be a part of that.
