Adidas Enlists Future To Introduce NYC Tubular Pop-Up Gallery

Adidas Originals has sneakerheads covered for New York Fashion Week as the brand opened a temporary pop-up gallery in NYC showcasing its many Tubular iterations today. The space doubles as a store, as fans of the Tubular silhouettes can pick up limited edition versions, with one only available at the gallery.

The gallery will highlight the Tubular’s futuristic aesthetic, and showcase both fall ’15 and spring ‘16 editions of the silhouette. When the gallery’s doors open, a NYC-specific Tubular model, the Tubular Runner Primeknit, will be sold exclusively at the gallery, with a retail price of $150. Starting tomorrow, a limited amount of Adidas Originals’ special edition white Tubular Primeknit Snake will be available for purchase with a retail price of $160.

To accompany the shoe gallery and retail space is a photo exhibit, which features the work of selected photographers Brian Alcazar, Humza Deaz, Christina Paik, VisualsbyPierre, Brock Fetch and Natalia Mantini, who all used the Tubular as inspiration for their photos as well as the centerpiece of their shots.

To launch the space, Adidas Originals hosted an event featuring a performance from rapper Future on Wednesday. Rap star A$AP Ferg was also in attendance.

“We’re an accessible brand and we like to do things in a more inspirational, innovative way. The pop-up space is bringing this story and this experience to our target consumer,” Pascha Naderi-Nejad, senior director of Adidas Originals U.S. told FN at Wednesday night’s gallery launch event. “You can feel the language and the DNA of the Tubular in this environment. Rather than just seeing it through a product lens, you can experience the modern expression, the fashion-forward aesthetic.”

The pop-up gallery is located at 115 Spring Street and will be open to the public Sept. 10-12 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
