Nike Unveils New Flyease Sneakers For Kids

Back in July, Nike and NBA superstar LeBron James  introduced the LeBron Zoom Soldier Flyease 8, a new easy-entry shoe system. Today, the athletic giant announced that it will make the technology more available to young athletes.

The LeBron Zoom Soldier Flyease 8, made exclusively for young athletes, will be available starting Jan. 1. Nike will release the LeBron Zoom Soldier Flyease 9 later in 2016, according to a statement.

“This is an unbelievable story that we get to keep rewriting,” James said in a statement. “Kids should be on the move, and we have the opportunity to accelerate that with the Flyease collection.”

The LeBron Zoom SoldierFlyease 8 features the signature Flyease system, boasting a wraparound zipper beginning at the mid-foot that opens up the heel of the shoe. That makes it easy to get the foot in and out, and once the shoe is zipped, the technology provides a secure fit without the need to tie laces.

Nike plans to expand the Flyease collection in March with the addition of shoes for both kids and adults, including a running shoe and a new basketball shoe.

During a road game against the Boston Celtics on Dec. 15, James approached 16-year-old Aaron Miller, a Special Olympics athlete who won the MVP award at a recent local Special Olympics competition. He was named the Celtics’ “Hero of the Game.” James, who said Miller was wearing his Flyease shoes, congratulated him on his achievement and, after the game, gave him his game-worn LeBron 13 shoes.
