Four years ago, Nike debuted Flyknit technology at the 2012 London Olympics, introducing a new way of making sneakers that’s still fueling the brand’s performance sneaker offerings today. While the Flyknit Trainer “Volt” was the highlight of Nike’s presence, that model has since been discontinued, and Nike has moved on to a new shoe for its medalists to wear on the podium this year.
For the 2016 Rio Olympics, Nike has given the Free RN Flyknit running sneaker a vibrant “Volt” touch, resulting in a colorway that has been turning just as many heads as the 2012 medal-stand shoes did.
These performance runners are constructed with a breathable Flyknit upper that’s supported by concealed Flywire cables for a lockdown fit, and cushioning is provided by a flexible Free sole.

Many of Nike’s Olympic sneakers have already sold out, but this “Medal Stand” colorway of the Free RN Flyknit is still available in a wide range of sizes from nike.com for $130.
