Nike KD8 Vinary Drops Oct. 1

There are undoubtedly some Kevin Durant fans out there mimicking his moves, shouting his name as they drain a jumper in a pickup game and hanging his posters on their bedroom wall. But before Durant was a professional baller, he was a fan, too, and his fandom comes to fruition in the latest iteration of his Nike KD8 shoe.

The KD8 Vinary, a tribute to two of Durant’s favorite players — Vince Carter and Larry Bird — will hit stores Oct. 1. The shoe has a retail price of $180.

To pay homage to Boston Celtics legend Bird, the shoe’s Flyweave upper is primarily black with green shock accents from the toe cap to the midfoot, with the “KD” branding on the tongue also appearing in green shock. As a tribute to Carter, who rose to fame while playing for the Toronto Raptors, the shoe features a purple-and-crimson sole.

The KD8 Vinary features a full-length Zoom Air unit for low-profile cushioning, Flywire cables integrated with the laces for support and a foam heel counter for stability.

Although the NBA season hasn’t started yet, Nike has been busy releasing different iterations of the shoe, most recently the Hunt’s Hill Night (a night silver, deep pewter, tumbled gray, black and green glow colorway) on Sept. 2, and Hunt’s Hill Sunrise (an orange, black and volt colorway) on July 25. The Beaverton, Ore.-based brand has also released a line of eyewear for Durant.
