Nike Features Kevin Durant In Its Latest Podcast

Portland, Ore.-based footwear brand Nike has released its second podcast in its Prototype series,  featuring superstar Oklahoma City Thunder forward Kevin Durant.

The podcast features Durant, who is sponsored by the brand, speaking about the things that make him as competitive as he is, how he became the dynamic basketball player his fans see on the court, his aggressive playing style and the making of his latest signature shoe, the KD8, which debuted in retail stores on June 27.

In addition to Durant, an NBA MVP and six-time All-Star, the podcast’s guests include actor Mark Wahlberg; Washington, D.C.-based rapper and sneakerhead Wale; Nike designer Leo Chang (responsible for the KD8); and Durant’s childhood coach and godfather, Taras “Stink” Brown.

The first podcast in the Prototype series featured Los Angeles Lakers star and Nike-sponsored athlete Kobe Bryant.

The second colorway of the KD8, an all-red silhouette, will hit stores on Saturday. The shoe has a retail price of $180. The shoe’s first colorway was an Independence Day-themed blue upper with darker blue and red patterns that resemble fireworks, released on June 27.

The second edition features elements from Durant’s personal life, including a nod to a Chevrolet Camaro he owned in 2010 and the sabretooth-tiger tattoo on his leg, which is echoed on the shoe’s heel.
