Nike Will Donate All Proceeds From These Sneakers to the Doernbecher Children’s Hospital

Nike‘s Kyrie Irving signature sneakers keep on coming, and the latest will be Saturday’s launch of the anticipated Nike Doernbecher Freestyle Collection.

Included in this six-sneaker collection is the “Doernbecher” Nike Kyrie 2 designed by Andy Grass, a former patient at the Doernbecher Children’s Hospital in Oregon. Grass overcame a critical injury after an accident at the beach, and now his resilient journey is being documented on NBA star Irving’s signature shoes.

The Nike Kyrie 2 “Doernbecher” is filled with personalized details that call back to Grass’ family and recovery, including a tribute to his late Aunt Peggy, who was being treated for breast cancer during his stay at Doernbecher. “She and I would encourage each other a lot. Before she passed away, she reminded me to find joy in every day,” Grass said. In honor of this, the sneaker’s midsole Swoosh is filled with a repeating pattern reading “joy.”

The Nike Kyrie 2 “Doernbecher” is priced at $120 and will release alongside the entire Doernbecher Freestyle Collection on Saturday at 10 a.m. ET on Nike SNKRS online. The collection will also be available from select Nike locations.
