Odell Beckham Jr. Suspended For One Game By NFL

Things were tense between New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. and Carolina Panthers cornerback Josh Norman on Sunday, with Beckham Jr.’s antics being widely criticized by NFL analysts as well as current and former players. Those on-the-field actions just cost him a game check.

The league announced today that Beckham Jr. would be suspended for one game for his conduct during the 38-35 loss to the Panthers.

Beckham Jr., who caught six passes for 76 yards and a touchdown, received three personal foul penalties on Sunday. There was lots of infighting during the game, and in the third quarter the Giants receiver went head-first into Norman’s helmet.

“He’s a player on our team and he made some mistakes today, but I’m hoping he will recognize that and get over it,” New York Giants head coach Tom Coughlin said during his post game press conference Sunday.

Coughlin also said during the press conference that he considered benching Beckham Jr.

“I wanted him to play the game. He had to learn,” he said. “He’s got to learn at some point how to deal with some things on the field.”

Beckham Jr. has been the face of Foot Locker ads and is known for his wild cleat selection, including Nike shoes inspired by the Peanuts movie and Batman’s enemy, The Joker.
