The 4 Golfers Who Won Their First PGA Major This Year & What They Wore

It’s been the year of the first-timer on the PGA Tour.

With Sunday’s surprising conclusion to the PGA Championship, it marked a clean sweep for first-time majors winners taking home those four coveted trophies. (And 2016 also has a big year for the FootJoy golf brand, which sponsors three of the four winners.)

Who were those lucky athletes? Let’s start with Sunday’s victor:

Jimmy Walker — PGA Championship
The native Texan won his first major title at Baltusrol in Springfield, N.J., with a one-stroke lead over a very determined defending champ, Jason Day. Sporting the Icon Black golf cleats by his sponsor FootJoy, 36-year-old Walker finished with a 14-under-par score of 266. As a result, his Ryder Cup ranking rose from No. 29 to No. 4, securing him a spot in that tournament in September.

Henrik Stenson — British Open
To claim his first majors victory, the 40-year-old Swede had to dig deep, especially if he was going to defeat Phil Mickelson. With a final 20-foot birdie putt on the 18th hole at Royal Troon in Scotland, Stenson finished his last round with a record score of 63, and completed the tournament at 20-under. He did it all in FootJoy’s Icon Traditional MyJoys shoes.

Dustin Johnson — U.S. Open
Johnson took home the trophy at the 116th U.S. Open after carding 69 and finishing 4 under par to claim his first majors title. That despite a controversial penalty stroke due to a rules infraction on the fifth green, when Johnson’s ball slightly moved. At Oakmont Country Club in Pennsylvania, the Adidas-sponsored golfer played the course wearing Adidas Golf Tour 360 Boost shoes in multiple colorways.

Danny Willett — The Masters
Wearing white FootJoy DryJoys Casual golf shoes with bright green trim, the 28-year-old clinched his first majors title after a bogey-free final round of 67 at Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Ga. Willett upended defending title holder Jordan Spieth, who had a shaky performance.
