Puma Gives the Clyde a Rolls-Royce Phantom-Inspired Makeover

Athletic brands with a rich and lengthy heritage like to show off iconic styles. Puma is a brand with a robust catalog, and its latest retro release evokes the off-the-court style of legendary basketball player Walt “Clyde” Frazier.

The Puma Clyde Wraith Pack, according to the brand, is inspired by Frazier’s love for fashion and flashy cars. To execute the concept, Puma gave its legendary Clyde silhouette — introduced in 1973 — a smooth and lustrous finish, reminiscent of Frazier’s beloved Rolls-Royce Phantom.

Puma used a premium patent leather on the uppers of the shoes in the collection, paired with kurim material on the back heels and a lace lock. The shoes also feature details as a nod to the baller’s incredible career on the court such as lace tips boasting the number 10, his number with the New York Knicks.

The Puma Clyde Wraith Pack features two colorways of the shoe — black and cordovan — and is set to hit stores on Friday.
