The Store That’s Making People Rap For A Pair Of Yeezys

As any true Yeezy Boost fan knows, the shoes are hard to come by. Most retailers are only given a few pairs of each release, spurring them to run raffles to randomly choose lucky winners to purchase Kanye West and Adidas Originals‘ kicks.

This time around, the Huntington, N.Y.-based store Rise is changing things up. The shop has challenged people to submit a 30-second a cappella rap on Twitter for the chance to purchase a pair of the light grey Yeezy Boost 750s that are dropping Saturday.

Footwear News spoke with Rise co-owner Chase Ceparano, who told us that the store has “a number of pairs” to raffle off. Ceparano said they decided to open the contest up to Twitter users around the world to “engage a global audience,” giving fans outside of Rise’s local community a chance to participate, too.

Here’s how the contest works: On Twitter, users should tag @RiseNY, type in their U.S. men’s shoe size, use the hashtag #RiseforYeezy and then include a 30-second a cappella rap video. Users should only submit one tweet. Entries will be accepted through Friday at noon EDT, and winners will be contacted via Twitter direct message the same day by 5 p.m.

For those who can get to the store, Rise is also running an in-store raffle for the chance to purchase. They’ll be giving out tickets through 5 p.m. Friday. Winners will be selected at random and will be contacted between 6-7 p.m. the same day. Rise is limiting the raffle to one ticket per person.
