How You Can Help Insole Brand Sols Donate Socks to the Homeless This Month

There’s a lot more ways to give this Thanksgiving season than with a turkey dinner and all the trimmings.

With the holiday just weeks away, custom insole maker Sols is doing its part to help those less fortunate. Sols founder Kegan Schouwenburg is spearheading a sock drive from now until Thanksgiving where for every shoe photo someone uploads and tags #fromthesole and @wearsols on Instagram or Twitter, the company will donate a pair of socks to The Bowery Mission in New York.

According to Sols, every night more than 60,000 New Yorkers go to a homeless shelter, with homelessness in the city having doubled over the past decade. “We’re hard on our footwear and we take it for granted every day,” said Schouwenberg. “For our growing homeless population, clean and functional footwear can be especially hard to come by. With the holidays on the way, we thought we’d start the giving early and give something back to the wonderful community we live in.”

In addition, the company is giving away a pair of Nike Presto sneakers for the photo that receives the most likes, with the winner selecting the size and color of their choice. The winner will be announced on Nov. 28.
