Timberland Celebrates the Year of the Dragon With Lunar New Year Collection

Timberland is celebrating the Lunar New Year with a new collection.

The collection presents a new take on the beloved 6-inch boot in honor of the Year of the Dragon, taking starting on Feb. 10 according to the Chinese zodiac. The three celebratory models are cast in valiant shades of red for men and black for women crafted of Timberland’s premium leather, providing each boot with a durable and plush finish.

Available in a range of both men’s and women’s sizes, the first two 6-inch boot styles feature dragon-shaped fobs, gold eyelets, contrasting rugged stitching, contrasting Timberland logo detailing on the heels and reptilian embossed detailing on the boot’s collar akin to the scales of a dragon.

The Lunar New Year booties also include sleek lace-up closures and thick rubber soles aiming to provide the silhouette with excellent traction and grip, especially on slippery surfaces. A release date for the collection has yet to be announced, however, the brand will likely release more information on the boots in the upcoming weeks.

Another standout is the special edition Timberland GreenStrideTM Motion 6 Mid lace-up hiking boot designed to celebrate the Year of the Dragon with a lightweight, comfort-forward style. The footwear includes a striking combination of red and black outsole, lace-up closures and thick and reliable tread that offers the wearer a non-slip feel. The collection also includes a variety of on-theme apparel.

In 2023, Timberland celebrated the Year of the Rabbit with a similar iteration of the 6-inch boot. Coming in a range of neutral hues, the footwear included similar decorative rabbit-shaped fobs accompanied by rope-esque closures. In subsequent years, the footwear brand has released a myriad of New Year-inspired collections.

The brand is best known for its iconic yellow work boot, the Original Timberland boot. The utilitarian boot was introduced in 1973 and was made to take on the harsh elements of New England. Today, Timberland today offers a full range of footwear, apparel, and accessories to choose from. The brand is widely recognized as the arbiter of boot culture.
