Dr. Martens is officially taking it back to the grunge 1990s era with their newest collaboration with iconic rock band Nine Inch Nails.

Honing in on themes of rock ‘n’ roll and rebellion, this collection takes the ideals of both Dr. Martens and Nine Inch Nails. Over the decades, they have become known for their ability to shift the culture and cause conversation. The band’s most iconic album, “The Downward Spiral,” is the major source of inspiration behind this capsule, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary.

At the center of Dr. Martens x Nine Inch Nails is the 1460 8-eye boot, which features the album artwork ‘Wound’ by Russell Mills and is reworked in a black and white color. Also included on the silhouette is a branded ankle zip, multiple buckles and a removable jungle zip front.

Next up is the 1461 3-eye shoe, which is constructed with a  rubber-grained leather NIN embossed toe cap, and emphasized through the iconic ‘Crystal Teeth’ image from the “The Downward” spiral artwork alongside glossy wording. Per the brand, the standard 1490 boots in this collection are inspired by the wild and uninhibited performances that have been delivered by the band over the decades and includes an ankle zip across the inner ankle, branded hardware, a commando outsole and a monochrome heel loop accompanied by two pairs of wrap-around laces.

The capsule is finished with the Fan Edition 1490 boots, which are made with leather embossing, and the “Downward Spiral” album art splashed in an all-black color. However, this pair is not included for purchase as a select few will be gifted to some of the band’s most dedicated fans.

Separately, the brand has also recently taken steps towards creating a more sustainable outlook for the future, as their Genix Nappa collection is fully made from reclaimed leather using leather offcuts starting at 140 British pounds.
