Kith Is Taking On the New Balance 1906R Sneaker for the Very First Time

Kith’s long history of New Balance collaborations will now include the 1906R sneaker for the very first time.

The archival model has previously been the subject of collaboration with Salehe Bembury, Aimé Leon Dore and Ganni and is most easily recognized for its lacing system’s integration with the “N” logo.

In the first of two colorways, Kith gives the sneaker an undersaturated look with a white mesh providing the platform for silver and gold metallic overlays and a light blue heel cage. Although it’s predominantly rendered in white, the sole unit also features hits of gold, tan, grey and yellow.

The black and gold iteration provides greater contrast and also includes a blood red lace lock and a dark green sock liner. On both sneakers, Kith branding remains subtle with a small mark on the tongue tag and another appearance on the insole.

Having originally launched in 2009 as the 1906, the modernized 1906R was brought back into the fold in 2022 and began to gain momentum with the ALD collaboration nearly a year ago. The silhouette is actually the predecessor to the 2002 model, which had already enjoyed its own revival as the 2002R prior to the 1906R’s return. In 2024, the silhouette now appears set for its biggest year yet.

Three different technologies are packed into the 1906R’ s sole unit: an Acteva Lite midsole, Abzorb SBS heel pods and an N-ergy outsole.

The Kith x New Balance 1906R’s white colorway will get an early release Friday, March 8, through through the Kith Women Flagship in New York City. Kith’s app drawing will also begin accepting entries that day for both colorways, while a global release will follow March 11 through the brand’s website and other stores. Pricing for the sneaker has not yet been announced, and it’ll be available in both men’s and women’s sizing.
