Nike Tapped Four Atlanta Sneaker Boutiques to Design an Air Max 95 for 404 Day

Nike has brought four Atlanta sneaker boutiques together to make one city-centric Air Max 95.

A Ma Maniére, Wish ATL, Walter’s and Soleplay worked together on the Air Max 95 “Atlanta,” which makes use of the colors of the Atlanta Hawks while taking on a phoenix theme. The majority of the upper is made up of suede, including the signature stripes in shades of red and orange. The rest of the upper is then rendered in grey, as well as the midsole and sockliner, while the outsole is rendered in gum. The Air Max units stand out in orange inside clear bubbles, and the only overt Atlanta callout comes via a graphic insole printed with a Nike “ATL” logo. A phoenix graphic is also printed tonally on the reflective heel, a detail that could easily be missed and invokes the city’s seal and motto.

Air Max Day is now just days away, but the Air Max 95 “Atlanta” will come just over a week after Nike’s annual celebration of the franchise. Instead, the sneaker will release for 404 Day, which is named for Atlanta’s area code and is a celebration of the city’s creative culture.

Nike’s focus for the corporate holiday is on launching the all-new Air Max DN, which is coming straight away in numerous colorways and from a long list of retailers. In the lead-up to Air Max Day, Nike has also released an original “Big Bubble” version of its Air Max 1 “Royal Blue.”

The Nike Air Max 95 “Atlanta” is scheduled to release April 4 through the Snkrs app. All four retailers involved in the design will also begin selling the shoe April 3, the purchase of which will grant entry for a launch party on April 4. Pricing is set at $185.
