ZoomX technology is one of the core components of Nike‘s contemporary running offerings. As the most responsive foam in the brand’s arsenal, it’s one of the key features of the Alphafly series that’s broken marathon records on multiple occasions. Through the new G.T. Cut 3, ZoomX will now make its debut in a basketball sneaker.

The G.T. Cut models have focused on quick, lateral movements while the two other sneakers from the Greater Than series hone in on running and jumping. To continue that mission, the G.T. Cut 3 balances the responsiveness of ZoomX foam with a low-to-the-ground feeling by shaving the stack height from its predecessor and coming in at a lighter weight. A Flywire-reinforced upper and a TPU lateral sidewall then help lock in the foot, while modified herringbone pods on the outsole bring targeted traction.

“The G.T. Cut 3 enhances my ability to stop on a dime and gives me that quick first step which has always been a part of my game,” Jewell Loyd, guard for the Seattle Storm, said in a press release. “I’m not the tallest, but my ability to get to spots quicker than the defense helps me to get my shot off when I want to and allows me to make a play on defense when I need to, helping me elevate my game.”

Nike is expanding availability for the G.T. Cut 3 by by extending its sizing to grade school and pre school. For the first time, the brand will also release a lower-priced version through the G.T. Cut Academy, which features Zoom Air, Renew Foam, and a traditional herringbone traction pattern.

Both the Nike G.T. Cut 3 and G.T. Cut Academy will become available in Spring 2024 through Nike’s website and select retailers. Pricing has not yet been confirmed.
