Nike is embracing the cheuginess of discount department stores and the home decor they trade in through an elaborately constructed SB Dunk Low.
The Nike SB Dunk Low “Big Money Savings” is rendered with a variety of materials and styles that should be familiar to anyone who’s encountered the “Live laugh love” crowd. In fact, the very font commonly used to espouse that philosophy has now been adopted by Nike for its logo hit on the mustache. Another cliche arrives via insole branding done in a cross-stitch style complete with flowers.
Beige suede overlays sit atop a mismatched series of underlays that represent the gamut of tacky throw pillows. The quarter takes the form of silver brocade, the vamp khaki canvas and the tongue and collar ribbing in cream and grey, respectively. Rope laces bring yet another texture into the mix, while a speckled sky blue outsole matches the tongue tag.
Not pictured in the official images is a tear-off “receipt” on the inner tongue that Nike says gives “58 cool points to use toward all your ‘cooler than you’ claims.'” The brand continued to have more fun than usual in its product description for the sneaker with further urging to “Use them wisely while you celebrate the big savings you’re chasing…and sometimes getting. Skate hard, stay frugal and never stop rockin’ Dunks.”
The Nike SB Dunk Low “Big Money” savings will release April 17 through the Snkrs app, as well as select local skate shops. Pricing is set at $125.
