Following the reveal of a version made for Spelman College, the Nike Terminator capsule for Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) is growing to include Alabama A&M.

The archival basketball shoe takes on Alabama A&M’s colors of maroon and white while adding metallic gold accents. A bulldog, the university’s mascot, appears on the gold tongue tag and is nodded to again through a metallic gold bone lace dubrae featuring the names “Bruiser” and “Butch. These refer to A&M’s costumed mascot, Bruiser, and the live bulldog.

“Normalite,” a nickname for the school’s students, is printed onto the laces to continue the rich details. Alabama A&M was originally called the Huntsville State Normal School for Negroes, and the university’s home site is still called Normal, Ala.

1875, the year A&M was founded, is stamped in gold on the lateral tip. The left insole then plays host to the school motto, “Service is Sovereignty,” while “Normal’s Hill” is spelled out across the two inner tongue tags.

Like Spelman’s Terminator High, A&M’s uses a combination of smooth leather and shaggy suede across its upper. But if you look closely at the Alabama University’s, you’ll see its logo appears raised atop the white leather base.

A release date hasn’t been officially confirmed yet for any of Nike‘s HBCU-themed Terminators, but word should come soon based on how Nike has rolled out its “Yardrunners” collections since the inception in 2020. Also joining the mix is a Terminator High made for Slim & Husky’s Pizza, a Nashville pizza chain founded by Tennessee State University alumni.
