An innovative capsule collection dubbed “Baseball is Dead,” the shoes are defined by Alexander-John’s skeleton slugger drawings, which can be found on the iconic Center Lo Classic canvas sneakers. The limited-edition collection also includes baseball jackets with a reworked skeletal P.F. Flyers logo and bones on the sleeves, skeleton-adorned T-shirts and trucker caps, all of which coordinate together for a slightly grunge, 1990s-themed USA style.

As is the case with many of his custom designs, storytelling is at the heart of this collection, this time around. It merges the tongue-in-cheek autobiographical story of how he lost his baseball collection as a kid with a tale of baseball rising from the dead as a trendsetter in culture and fashion.

Retailing for $125 and only available in 50 pairs, the Center Lo Classic canvas sneakers come built with a distinctive ribbed toe guard and supportive underfoot posture foundation, which, per the brand, creates the perfect canvas for the artist’s yellow signature green pennants and bone-colored skeleton players. The silhouette also includes a sturdily built canvas upper, a heel pull tab that makes taking the shoes on and off easy and a grippy rubber outsole built for traction. The sneakers are enhanced by recycled memory foam sock liners and waxed cotton laces.

What’s more, the collection also includes a 3D Baseball Card, hand-signed and numbered by Alexander-John, featuring a bony MVP sporting a cracked bat and a PF hat.

“It wasn’t just losing something that could be valuable in the future, but losing my heroes, Bo Jackson, Deion Sanders, etc. So in order to stay sane and not feel depressed every day, I decided to act as if baseball was dead to me. I felt P.F. Flyers, with its history in sports and that unforgettable spot in “The Sandlot” movie growing up, would be the perfect brand partner to help tell my story and share with other “kids at heart” that have had similar stories,” said Alexander John on his partnership with P.F. Flyers.

The P.F. Flyers and Alexander John collaboration will be available beginning on Thursday.
