Patta Takes On the Newly Minted New Balance 991v2 With a Lush Purple

While the 991v2 is still in its infancy, New Balance has tapped Patta for one of the first new takes on the retooled silhouette.

The Amsterdam-based streetwear label brings a dynamic mix of “pickled beet” purple and florescent yellow for what is just the third version of the sneaker. Stone Island partnered with New Balance in October to debut the first update to the model since its launch in 2001, and NB followed with an in-house release featuring its essential greyscale arrangement.

“We have a lot of respect for the iconic 991 design and the craftsmanship New Balance has mastered,” a spokesperson for Patta said in a press release. “Within the confines of that reverence, we went looking to combine it with newness that the update of this silhouette deserves.”

Purple suede and leather overlays dominate the upper and are slightly offset by grey mesh underlays. Reflective silver branding appears throughout, including the “N” logo, co-branded tongue patch, and Patta “P” mustache. The midsole then features a mix of white, grey, sand, and florescent yellow — the latter of which is matched with one of the lace options. Like all of the 991v2s thus far, Patta’s features Made in UK construction for a higher level of quality.

The Patta x New Balance 991v2 will release in its purple colorway Dec. 1 through Patta’s website and then Dec. 8 through New Balance and select third-party retailers. An additional colorway will also be exclusive to Patta, although images of it haven’t been revealed. Pricing has yet to be announced.
