Rick Owens Brings a Double Sole to His Converse Chuck 70

Rick Owens’ partnership with Converse is set to continue with the addition of another Chuck 70 remix. A double sole unit has now been added to their DRKSTAR Chuck 70, which is appropriately being called the DBL DRKSTAR Chuck 70.

The DRKSTAR Chuck 70 was already a platform sneaker, but the effect has now been heightened. More streamlined white rubber on the midsole’s heel and toe could disguise the stacked effect, but it’s more easily spotted thanks to the striped sections piled atop each other at midfoot. The upper, meanwhile, remains the same and is available in either a high or low cut. Since May, the two partners have also begun utilizing a “Max Grind” process to incorporate up to 40 percent reclaimed rubber scraps for more sustainable outsoles.

Since joining forces with Converse in 2021 after a long relationship with Adidas, Rick Owens has created yet another version of the Chuck 70 known as the TURBODRK and take on the Weapon called the TURPOWPN. The TURBODRK is the more extreme twist on the Chuck 70 thanks to an oversized, squared toe. What it does still share with the DRKSTAR and DBL DRKSTAR Chuck 70 is the segmented midsole construction from the toe back and an exaggerated tongue that reaches well up toward the sky.
