Puma and Staple Celebrate Chinese New Year With Sneaker and Apparel Collection

Puma and Staple’s partnership will continue this week with a collection of footwear and apparel celebrating the Chinese New Year.

The “Year of the Dragon” capsule features three colorways for the 180 and two for the Suede. Both silhouettes come with options for grey and black, of which there are two variants on the 180, or cream and white, with all four adorned by pink accents and coming with oversized laces. The 180 is hit with Staple‘s famous pigeon logo on the tongue, while the brand’s dragon logo takes over the Suede.

For the collection’s campaign, Staple and Puma tapped the New York Chinese Freemasons Athetlic Club, New York City’s oldest lion dance club.

While the Suede is one of Puma’s most iconic and long-running models, the 180 is a newer silhouette that capitalizes on the Y2K trend by taking inspiration from the chunky skateboarding shoes of the late-’90s and early-’00s. Staple has previously collaborated on both models.

In addition to the footwear, the collection also includes a run of graphic hoodies, T-shirts, and sweats following the same color schemes.

The Staple x Puma “Year of the Dragon” collection will first release through Staple’s website Tuesday, Jan. 30, followed by a drop through Puma’s the following day, Jan. 31. Pricing for the assortment ranges from $45 to $130.
