Clarks Embraces Checkered Mania With New Suede Wallabee Styles

Clarks Originals launched a range of unique checkered-print Wallabees perfect for the fall season.

Coming in a boot and two low-top styles, the shoes feature a whimsical print paired with premium textural hair-on suede uppers, replacing the top surface of leather. The addition offers each silhouette a playful and cozy disposition.

Retailing for $180, the Wallabee boot comes in a versatile and neutral “Maple Check” colorway and includes rubber pebble crepe soles, lightweight EVA midsoles and sleek coordinating tan lace-up closures. The shoe style is finished with rugged Clarks Originals fobs.

The men’s Wallabee in a neutral “Cola Check” colorway and the women’s “Orange Check” both retail for $170 and include similar fascets to their boot counterparts. These details include lightweight EVA midsoles, rubber pebble crepe soles and decorative fob detailing. Each shoe comes in a wide range of sizes for both men and women.

Clarks was founded in 1852 in Somerset, England, by brothers James and Cyrus Clark. Today, the footwear brand operates in retail, wholesale, franchises and online channels in over 100 markets. Today, Clark’s design and sell over 40 million pairs of shoes every year according to its official website. Under Clarks Originals, Clarks has been able to experiment and expound upon many of its most popular silhouettes including the Wallabee and Desert Boot.

Clarks’ iconic moccasin-inspired Wallabee was crafted in Ireland and launched in 1960 but the concept dates back to 1880, dreamt up by William Clark. The shoe is a cultural phenomenon and has been remixed throughout the years by a myriad of brands and institutions including Supreme, Billionaire Boys Club, Moncler, Aries, Slam Jam, Beams and JJJJound among others.
