7 Slip-Resistant Clogs for Work That Aren’t Totally Boring

Slip-resistant footwear is making its way from duty to fashion. Once reserved for those in the hospitality and health care communities, manufacturers are increasingly taking a cue from the fashion market, adding colors and prints to classic clogs for spring ’17 and turning them into everyday footnotes.

These days, just about anyone can benefit from safety looks (typically worn by nurses, food servers and flight attendants) because they offer protection on everyday wet surfaces. They’re also a great alternative to rainboots,  particularly in the warmer months, when a pair of rubber rainboots can prove heavy.

Since these colorful styles are targeted to those who on their feet all day, they also come packed with comfort features such as arch support and cushioned footbeds. As such, teachers, hair stylists and crossing guards, among others, can take advantage of their therapeutic benefits.

While clogs are the quintessential duty-shoe silhouette, they’re also a big part of the ’60s retro story playing out in fashion today. And these bright, colorful floral prints hark back to the flower-power movement of that decade.

And don’t forget: Most duty shoes also feature stain-resistant uppers, so these looks can stand up to just about any conditions, increasingly their longevity and thereby making them an even better investment.
