Huma Abedin is renowned for her political prowess, as the longtime chief of staff for Hillary Clinton. However, she’s also become known in recent years for her elegantly sharp personal style.
As a longtime supporter of the fashion industry and veteran of the Met Gala, the “Both/And: A Life in Many Worlds” author has been seen on campaign trails and in front rows in distinctly streamlined ensembles — often hailing from top brands including Alexander McQueen, Vera Wang and Altuzarra. Abedin, the new girlfriend of Bradley Cooper, has also paired these with undeniably versatile shoes, ranging from smooth winter boots to pointed pumps — though a hint of color or metallic hue is never out of the question.
In January 2008, Abedin was on the campaign trail with Hillary Clinton in Iowa. For the occasion — and to pass out coffee to the press with Clinton — the then-aide layered a black winter coat over a pair of knee-high brown suede boots, featuring rounded toes.

August 2013 found Abedin visiting a Greenwich Village townhouse in New York City, wearing a sweeping knee-length navy dress with gauzy sleeves and a cold-shoulder silhouette. Elevating her look was a thin red belt, sunglasses and a layered silver necklace — plus a Louis Vuitton tote bag. Yellow open-toed D’Orsay heels added a pop of color to her outfit.
Abedin turned florals into neutrals at a 2015 Capitol Hill hearing in Washington, DC arriving in a black and white printed dress with short sleeves and an allover blooming print. Boosting her look — worn while being interviewed by the House Select Committee on Benghazi — was a thin red belt, leather satchel and thin sparkling earrings — plus a towering set of black patent leather platform pumps.
Arriving at Prabal Gurung’s Fall 2017 show during New York Fashion Week, Abedin went elegantly bohemian in a pink and purple floral-printed dress at the Skylight Clarkson Square. Her look was cinched with a black leather knotted belt, and given added glamour from large silver post earrings and a pendant necklace. Completing Abedin’s outfit was a pair of beige suede boots with black patent leather paneling.
Abedin took a slick step forward in 2019 during New York Fashion Week, attending Alice + Olivia’s Spring 2020 presentation at ROOT Studios in a white cap-sleeved top trimmed in lace. Adding an edgy contrast was a maroon leather skirt covered in crocodile embossments. Boosting her outfit was a pair of diamond drop earrings and a set of light beige leather sandals with platform soles and wide crossed straps.
In 2020, Abedin beat the winter blues with a dose of flower power. While leaving “Good Morning America,” the author wore a blue and white floral-printed midi dress, chicly cinched with a black leather belt and layered atop gray suede block-heeled boots. To ward off the chill, Abedin wore a black wool coat with a silver biker jacket-esque silhouette, as well as black leather satchel and large sunglasses.
For the premiere of “Mr. Malcolm’s List” in 2022, Abedin gave her sharp style a springtime update on the red carpet. For the occasion, she opted for a long-sleeved white dress with a knee-length skirt and buttoned front, framed in a swirling blue floral print. Completing her ensemble was a pair of blue and gold teardrop earrings — plus a set of brown suede pumps with stiletto heels.
