Marni‘s taking unruly hair to new heights with its latest quirky shoe.
Creative director Francesco Risso’s fall 2023 collection prominently features the brand’s latest sneaker, a $995 iteration of its popular Pablo style: a low-top lace-up with rounded capped toes, grounded by faintly exaggerated rubber soles. However, this version features a unique twist: the shoes are covered in shaggy calfskin.
The shoes’ uppers were tufted to create a hairy texture, bringing a whimsical take to the staple low-top sneaker silhouette. For a sharp finish, each set was trimmed with thin leather and cinched by white laces. “Marni”-branded panels also extend from their soles in a 3D manner, completing all pairs with a subtle geometric statement.

This isn’t Marni’s only shaggy shoe style in its Fall lineup, however. In the 2020s, the Italian luxury brand has also made waves with its hit calfskin slip-on clogs in a similar texture, which are cast in hues ranging from light brown to vibrant pink, blue and green tones. The soft style has also become a hit with celebrities, as well, including Jonah Hill, Denzel Dion and Gunna, among others.
The release of Marni’s textured Pablo sneakers coincides with the launch of its wider Fall 2023 collection. This season, the brand’s shoe lineup features an array of sharp and whimsical styles, including metal-heeled booties, bubble-soled loafers and heeled loafers.
On the sneaker front, Marni also released the Pablo sneakers in a range of colors, including light blue, pink and purple, as well as a variety of Mary Jane-style Pablo’s in a similar variety of hues.
