adidas is still advancing their 3d-printed 4D technology, providing new innovations to the exciting material. This year, they are set to debut an update to the 4DFWD model, which pairs the shoe with Strung knit uppers.
adidas’ performance running technologies have evolved greatly over the last decade, with the Three Stripes being the first to bring 3D-printed midsoles to the mass market. Several years ago, they introduced Strung, a new knit textile technique that surpassed PrimeKnit as their lightest, most breathable, and sturdy woven offering. The knit structure has been improved over the years through data from athletes, with adidas able to make certain areas stronger or more flexible as needed. Now, the two advanced technologies are joining, for the 4DFWD Strung.
The 4DFWD has been a part of adidas arsenal for several years now, emerging as their flagship model with the resin midsole tech, succeeding the Ultra 4D for runners. The shoe features a two-piece structure of different knits, as well as an aggressive, forward-leaning shade. The new Strung version features an upper cast in greyscale, with black, dark grey, and white shades making up its intricately woven pieces.

adidas has not officially announced their stateside release of the new 4DFWD Strung silhouette, though the model is expected to arrive sometime later in 2024. The model’s black, grey, and white color scheme has already surfaced overseas, with an approximate price tag of $300.
