adidas Unveils Their New Futurecraft 4D Series With SNS

Earlier this year, word of the adidas Consortium Futurecraft series leaked online, causing a frenzy among fans of the new tech. Now, we have our first look at the collection in the form of SneakersNStuff’s exclusive 4D dropping next week.

adidas first debuted their collaborative midsole technology with Carbon last year. Dubbed Futurecraft 4D, the new tech was designed to be customizable and adaptable for any need. Carbon, which focuses mainly on improving methods of three-dimensional printing, helped to create the sole of this shoe using their Digital Light Synthesis technology. This process utilizes light, liquid, and midsole materials like EVA or plastic as they have never been used before. The result is a stunning lattice of structural beams to create a full-length midsole for the Futurecraft. This shape allows for complete customization of the midsole, meaning adidas can retool the support beams to provide a new fit for an athlete.

The arrival of new Futurecraft 4D shoes with a collaborative edge for them is an immense step for the brand. While this not only means the new technology is becoming more widely available, it also means that Futurecraft won’t be some premier, hard-to-find sneakers and that they are planning on bringing them to consumer’s hands.

SneakersNStuff will be the first adidas Consortium partner to launch a Futurecraft shoe, and it is quite something. The upper appears to be made from a single piece of Primeknit dyed in a mixture of maroon and navy blue. The three stripes on either side stand out in a plain burgundy tone, while TPU heel pieces are printed in blue to provide support. Finally, the new Futurecraft model is finished by the 4D material’s natural Aero Green color.
