Designed by Ethan Ellis, the Air Jordan 14 “Doernbecher” is a perfect example of what the partnership with the OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital means.
Ethan Ellis is a fellow OHSU Doernbecher patient in which he was diagnosed with hypoplastic left heart syndrome, which basically means the left side of his heart is underdeveloped. While he’s had a tough climb up to where he is today, he reflects on his journey of multiple surgeries and friends he’s met along the way on his very own Air Jordan 14.
A TCU super-fan, Ethan chose there was no better colorway to dress his very own shoe in other than the Horned Frogs purple. He even went as far as adding shimmery accents on the side paneling to resemble the reptilian. Other added features take us on his medical journey like the number 6 which represents how many heart surgeries he has underwent, a space needle which honors the city of Seattle, where he got his heart transplant this year. Other details include a list of hospitals he received care in on the laces, and “Lil Rey” on the inner tongue which shouts out a friend he’s made that has received the same care as him. Overall, Ethan was able to tell his individual story and capture the essence of the Doernbecher Freestyle Campaign all at once and fans love it.

The Air Jordan 14 “Doernbecher” is expected to release on December 7th in Men’s sizing as well as grade school sizing for the kiddos.
