The recent partnership from Edison Chen’s CLOT and adidas has already brought us a small assortment of releases, but their preview event last Fall leaves us wanting more. This week, we got an early look at the Superstar Dress, a full-on, upscale take on the classic sneaker with formal construction and premium leather, coming this Fall.
Edison Chen’s CLOT label has been a known name in the sneaker world since their iconic “Kiss of Death” Air Max 1 collaboration with Nike in 2006. The label continued to work with Nike releasing a number of high-profile collaborations until last year, when they officially parted ways and hitched their wagon to adidas. Late in 2023, CLOT previewed a number of sample styles with adidas using the Superstar and Gazelle among other classic trainers, which have started to release this year. Most recently, they released their woven style of the Gazelle in “Halo Ivory”, and now, we have an early look at their next project for Fall.
The main theme across the CLOT x adidas sneakers so far has been elevated takes on the Three Stripes’ trainers. The first release from the two added leather soles and tassels to the Superstar, borrowing elements from formal menswear shoes. Now, a new style of the same silhouette has surfaced. Subtitled Dress, the new Superstar edition delves even deeper into formalwear, reconstructing the classic shoe with premium leather and patent leather layers, cast entirely in black. This is mounted on a leather sole with a heel, on which a simple Three Stripes logo appears. Gold foil branding is added to the insoles for an extra premium detail.
CLOT X ADIDAS SUPERSTAR DRESS RELEASE INFORMATION
The next release from the new partnership between CLOT and adidas has not been announced for release yet, but is expected to arrive sometime in Fall 2024. The Superstar Dress, featuring black patent leather and brogue detailing, will likely be available from both partners as well as select retailers, likely with a high price tag, though no info is available for that yet.
