Concepts has an extensive history of collaborations with New Balance, releasing dozens of projects over the last twenty years. Recently, they have begun to revisit some of these older releases, rehashing pairs like the “Kennedy”999. This week, Deon Point, one of the head honchos at Concepts, teased a rehashing of the “Seal” color scheme, this time using the 1906U as the canvas.

Concepts and New Balance have been a powerhouse in the world of exclusive sneakers for two decades. Both brands are native to Boston, and have explored a number of projects with roots in the North East, using New Balance’s huge array of sneakers as their canvasses. Over the years, their projects have been hailed as some of the best in the game, thanks to their well thought-out plans, exclusivity, and easy releases. Recently, the two have begun to dip into their archives to rerelease or rehash some of their greatest hits, like the famous “Kennedy” 999 or last year’s “C-Note” 998s. Now, CNCPTS has teased an updated take on their “Seal” colorway from 2012, coming soon.

The Concepts x New Balance “Seal” project originally launched in 2012, and took inspiration from military gear over the years. The name is an abbreviation of Sea/Air/Land, a nod to the various branches of the US military forces, and included details like a morse code tongue label. Now, the color scheme is being rehashed in the form of the 1906U. This pair features a white mesh base layer, adding overlays in suede in shades of tan, brown, and blue. Mesh tongues come in olive green with a matching accent on the midsoles, with the topographic pattern from the OG shoe used for the new model’s insoles.
