Kawhi Leonard Decorates the New Balance 990v5 in Multicolor Paneling

The New Balance 990v5 has become a personal favorite to NBA star Kawhi Leonard, as the athlete is seen rocking the current-gen 990 quite frequently. This month, Leonard has cooked up a special colorway of the retr-styled runner, available now.

New Balance’s 990v5 has quickly become one of the most popular silhouettes in the Boston brand’s lineup, only having made its debut early last year. Since then, the newest entry in the 42-year-old 990 franchise has been a part of collaborations with New Balance’s biggest partners, as well as being featured on the feet of signature athletes like Kawhi Leonard. In fact, Leonard has apparently taken an extreme liking to the 990v5, spotted wearing them when he rolls up to nearly every NBA game. Now, the New Balance team has given Kawhi another chance to design his own colorway, opting for a bright and colorful look that feels contrasting to his on-court demeanor. Kawhi’s latest 990v5 begins with a split light blue and navy mesh base layer, before adding pigskin suede overlays in black, pink, yellow, orange, and red. New Balance’s signature ‘N’ logos stand out in either side in white, while a white ENCAP midsole unit completes the look.
