The adidas Rivalry Hi OG returned early last year, re-igniting Three Stripes fans love of the classic silhouette. Today, Na-Kel Smith dropped his own colorway of the classic basketball shoe, available now from adidas.
adidas’ classic Rivalry Hi was first released for the basketball court in 1986, and rose to fame on the feet of NBA legend Patrick Ewing, before he went on to start his own footwear brand. Now, the hi-top Rivalry is better suite to lifestyle-minded endeavors, as the technology inside has understandably taken a backseat to more modern materials. Now, the Rivalry Hi OG has been releasing steadily, with a new endorsement this week from adidas representative Na-Kel Smith. Na-Kel’s take on the classic basketball sneaker begins with an almost all-black suede upper. The laces, tongue lining, and accent on the three stripe motif come in a bright Collegiate Gold tone, while Collegiate Green leather accents reinforce the hi-top ankle. The tongue branding still bears the classic Ewing logo, though the name has been changed to Na-Kel instead for this special release.
