New Balance is well known for their simple color schemes on their retro runners. Usually focusing on neutral palettes with an emphasis on grey tones, they’ve added more color to their catalog in the last few years. This week, we got an early look at a new “Silver Cactus” style for the 1906R, coming soon.
The 1906R has become a staple in New Balance’s catalog, becoming one of their most popular retro runners in the last few years. The model was introduced in a series of dual collaborations back in 2022, and has since become a regular with seasonal releases coming every few months. The latest pair for Summer 2024 dresses the shoe in a new “Cactus Green” shade, a muted lime color that has appeared on sneakers from every brand in the last few months. This edition of the 1906 begins with a white mesh base layer, adding metallic silver overlays across the board. The cactus shade is added as an accent for the silver pieces, as well as making up the shoe’s plastic heel cage and branding elements.

New Balance’s latest new color scheme for the 1906R runner has not been announced for release yet, but is expected to arrive sometime later in Sumer 2024. Adding metallic silver and Cactus green to a white base, pairs will be available from both the brand’s website and select retailers for $155.
