New Balance’s MADE in USA 990v2 Launches With Bold Blue Color Blocking This Week

New Balance’s 990v2 appears to be one of the next retro models the brand will focus on, with several exciting releases so far this year. Now, the Boston brand is beginning to release the classic in in-line colorways, like this Royal Blue style releasing later this week.

The New Balance 990v2 was quite an interesting sneaker when it first released in 1998. While the shoe was obviously a follow-up on the beloved 990, its predecessor had launched a full sixteen years prior, making the 990 a seemingly odd choice given the pace at which footwear technology moves. However, the 990v2 hit the streets in a full sprint, thanks to its new tech and design elements, quickly become runners’ go-to New Balance shoes of choice. Now, as the 990v2 nears its 25th-anniversary, it appears New Balance is gearing up to celebrate the beloved runner. According to the brand’s own release calendar, the “Royal Blue” colorway of the MADE in USA 990v2 seen here is set to release this week, giving fans of the shoe a chance at the usually-elusive sneaker. The new Made in USA look mixes bold blue toes and heels with a black midfoot, all resting on a tonal white and grey midsole.
