New Balance and Teddy Santis are preparing to reveal their next Seasonal Collection for the Made in USA line. The premium versions of their classic silhouettes have focused heavily on the 99x family, and this season, the 992 returns to the brand’s catalog, joining the upscale franchise under the creative direction of the ALD founder.

New Balance’s Made in USA line has seen a significant uptick in releases since the brand appointed their frequent collaborator, Teddy Santis of Aimé Leon Dore, as the line’s creative director in 2020. Since then, the two have released regular Seasonal Collections, highlighting some retro NB silhouettes through upscale materials and expertly manufactured in the USA. Each season, the two have rotated models in and out of the lineup, with 2023 bringing the 998 into the fold. This year, Santis has teased the return of the 992, after its initial retro run that began back in 2020 and ended in 2022. Now, the model joins the MADE lineup beginning this Summer.

The last releases of New Balance’s 992 came early in 2022, before the silhouette ended its long run of releases and returned to the brand’s vault for a few years. The model began this run in 2020, during the first wave of appreciation for ‘dad’ sneakers and a need for comfort over style amidst the shelter-in-place pandemic era. Now, Teddy Santis has selected the model to become the latest addition to this year’s Made in USA series, teasing the return with an early look at a muted yellow color scheme. The pair features bright yellow mesh for the base layers and tongues, adding a muted shade in suede for the overlays. Black leather mid layers separate the two, while metallic silver and white accents complete the look. Additionally, a second color in a bright, tonal orange makeup is seen in the background of the teaser photo, indicating at least one more style will release this year.
