New Balance’s “Black/Sea Salt” 998 MADE Releases Next Week

New Balance is gearing up to release their next wave of Made in USA styles as a part of their Seasonal Collections. This week, the 998 has surfaced in a dark palette of black and grey tones, dropping next week.

Last year, New Balance revived another iconic member of the 99x family, returning the 1993 998 to their arsenal, and placing it exclusively in the Made in USA branch. The vintage running shoe released a number of times through the Teddy Santis-led Seasonal program, as well as popping up in a few other colors along the way. This week, the shoe appears to be kicking off the next string of MiUSA releases, with a fresh look arriving next week.

New Balance’s latest style of the 998 is a bit unexpected for a mid-Summer release, dressing the shoe in a very dark color palette. The look features a rich, chocolate brown shade for its mesh base layer, with matching toe boxes in suede. The midfoot panels come in a luxurious black leather, with Sea Salt tan accents for the TPU add-ons, ‘N’ logos, and laces.
