Nike’s releases of the Air Max 1 continue to stack up for this year. The classic runner has been a staple of their catalog in recent years, releasing in its original white and grey-based palette, as well as some wild new ones. This week, another pair of the latter has joined the release calendar, dressing the shoe in a “Vapor Green” look.
Nike’s Air Max 1 changed the world of running shoes when it originally launched in 1986. While the brand’s Air bag technology had been around since the late ’70s, the AM1 was the first shoe to actually show you the inflated cushioning bags under your feet. The model’s comfort and style helped catapult it into the stuff of legends, and remains an iconic piece of sneaker culture to this day. While Air Max 1 releases were largely held close to the chest throughout the ’10s, in 2020 Nike went all out with the model, releasing dozens of new and old colorways over the past four years.
This week, a new eye-catching color scheme has joined the Swoosh’s upcoming slate of 2024 releases for the OG Air Max shoe. Cast in the new “Vapor Green” shade, a neon-like green that has appeared on several other Nike shoes recently, this pair applies the highlighter shade to the model’s mudguards, Swooshes, and branding. The mesh base layer and midfoot panels come in a lighter, more pastel shade of green, with laces and midsoles to match, giving the shoe a near-tonal look.

Nike’s latest color scheme for the Air Max 1 has not been officially announced for release yet, but we expect to see this eye-catching look hit store shelves sometime later in Summer 2024. Featuring a “Vapor Green” main shade with paler green making up the rest of the shoe, pairs will be available from the brand’s website and select retailers for $140.
