The Air Ship has been a focal point of Jordan Brand’s collaborations over the last few years. The simple model, known for being Michael Jordan’s shoe of choice before his iconic AJ1 was introduced, has been a canvas for A Ma Maniere, Awake NY, and more. This month, Pairs’ Opium is throwing their hat into the ring with a look inspired by the Charlotte Hornets.

Paris retailer Opium is next up on Jordan Brand’s collaborative calendar. The store has been a hub for Jordan releases in Paris for a while, and contributes heavily to the yearly Quai54 basketball tournament held in their city. Now, the store is gearing up to release a new project in collaboration with Jordan, taking on the iconic Air Ship, and giving it a new look inspired by Michael Jordan’s past. The silhouette is given a color scheme inspired by the Charlotte Hornets, the team that Mike owned for thirteen years until he sold the team in 2023. Opium’s take begins with a white leather base layer for the upper, adding collar and toe overlays in suede, purple for the former, and black for the latter. Black suede Swooshes wrap around the heels of the shoe, connected by patterned strip running up the spines. Light blue star accents are embroidered on the toes and heels, with Opium’s logos on the outer heels to complete the look.
