Sacai first announced their collaboration with Nike via prototype sneakers on the runway. Since then, the shoes have received speculated release dates, but now its official.
Sacai and Nike have formed a somewhat unexpected, yet extremely compatible relationship with each other. The fashion label, founded in Japan by Chitose Abe in 1999, has become quite an anomaly in the fashion world. Abe started the brand out of her home when she was pregnant, after feeling that her wardrobe was limited to a select few standard types of clothing. Mixing her experience as a pattern maker at CDG, she began creating comfortable and stylish clothing that could be worn on the runway, to the local PTA meeting, and to drop off the kids at school. Sacai’s ability to seamlessly transition between fashionable and functional has proven them to be one of the most versatile brands in fashion. Now, they’ll be bringing that versatility to the Swoosh through their new project.
Last month, Nike officially unveiled the expansive Sacai collaboration, and now we finally have a confirmed release date. While we’ve already seen both pairs of shoes on feet, the new official images give us a better look at the various colorways available. The LDV Waffle comes in one set of blue, red, and yellow hues in addition to the green, yellow, and orange pairs. The mid-cut Blazer will drop in black and blue, as well as a more eye-catching yellow and red color scheme.
