Footwear designer-at-large Selehe Bembury has been lending his talents to brands around the globe in a behind-the-scenes manner for the past several years. Now, the accomplished maker is ready to debut his first signature shoes, the ANTA SB-01 & SB-02.
Salehe Bembury’s journey through the world of footwear design has brought us some of the best sneakers and boots of the past several years, ranging from attainable to grail-tier designs like the Versace Chain Reaction or Yeezy Season 2 boot. Now, Bembury is seemingly embarking on a global tour of design, lending his incredible talents to brands around the world for both special-edition releases like his New Balance 2002R, and wholly original products, like the new ANTA SB-01 and SB-02 that were announced earlier this week.
Salehe’s ANTA sneakers have been teased by the man himself for the better part of 2020, as the designer continues to test and refine his designs out in the world. However, this week Bembury finally gave us an official look at the new SB-01 and SB-02 silhouettes, designed exclusively for ANTA. In addition to the unveiling, he gave a bit of background for the project, expressing his goal of producing a shoe for under $100, because usually, shoes at that price point are reflective of it. The result is two incredibly unique looking silhouettes, complex in construction and featuring a slew of various materials and bright colorways. The SB series also introduces ANTA’s new Nest cushioning, a latticed structure inspired by bird’s nests.

Salehe Bembury’s new signature sneakers with ANTA have not yet been announced for release, though the designer has stated previously that they would be released in January 2021, with official release details made available via his personal website in the coming weeks. The SB-01 will come with a price tag of $120, while the lo-cut SB-02 will be available for just $90. UPDATE 1/24/21: Salehe has announced the official release date of his Anta SB-01 and SB-02, scheduled to release later this week, on January 26th, 2021. Every colorway seen throughout the promo buildup will be available at launch, exclusively through Bembury’s beaspunge.com website which serves as a sort of portfolio/creative space for the designer.
