New Balance and Japan’s thisisneverthat are back with another collection, this time taking inspiration from the United States Armed Forces color schemes, as well as their need for all-terrain gear. Check out the new project, highlighted by a khaki 997.
The centerpiece of the latest work from thisisneverthat and New Balance is clearly the beautifully put together 997, which also takes inspiration from USAF garb. The shoe’s mesh base layer is cast in a textured khaki tone, which is repeated in a more solid color across the 997’s smooth suede overlays. Reinforcement along the collar and toe box come in the form of smooth black leather, while olive green accents complete the color palette. The 997 matches the various colors of Polartec Fleece sweatsuits that will also be offered alongside the “PFU II” capsule collection.
